Hermione Olivia is a style-setting former Sydneysider, now resident of Notting Hill. An avid traveller, we ask her about all the places she's hoping to touch down this year.
What does travel mean to you?
Travel means meeting people you wouldn't otherwise, being outside your comfort zone, feeling free and alive. Travel is important to me because it leaves me feeling rejuvenated, inspired and ready to take on the world! I work to travel because whilst I'm here, I want to experience as much of the world as possible.
What are you most looking forward to about travelling in 2021?
Covid has given me a new perspective on travel and whilst I always appreciated it, I do think I'll make more of an effort to be more adventurous and to see new corners of the world in future. Who knows when travel will resume but when a new normal allows, I'd love to go home to Australia, follow the sun and also see new places.
Describe a moment, that you only experience when travelling, that you can’t wait to experience again?
I love flying for the sense of perspective it gives you... it makes me feel so small and insignificant, in the best possible way. It makes me reflective and grateful. I also love arriving back to Sydney and that immediate feeling of 'home' in the familiar accents, mannerisms and the wall of heat and the sound of birds when you step out of the airport. There is nothing like it.
Which European destination is first on your list and why?
Anywhere really, let's be honest! If I could choose, probably Formentera with my big brother... I love Ibiza but somehow I've never made it over to Formentera, so we're dreaming up a little trip together.
Which long haul destination are you longing to explore and why?
South America. I have dear friends in Argentina I'd love to visit and the thought of sitting on a beach in Brazil right now, sipping a coconut, post swim.........!!!
Name a place that you love so much, you’d happily return to time and time again. What is so special about it for you?
If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know it's Italy. I must have been Italian in a past life, I can't get enough. Specifically, I will return annually to my Italian Sersale family at Le Sirenuse.
